Re: Would this be worth trying?

OK I have got a line on a couple of totes for $18 each. 46X40X40. Are these the 300 gal. ones that you are speaking of?
They are tripple wall. Are they able to be stacked? That seems like a lot of weight on plastic to stack?

Getting closer all of the time. Now I got to go get the tanks and find a pump. Local farm store I guess I will stop there tomorrow also.

Re: Would this be worth trying?

Doesn't seem like those dimensions would hold 300gal, but I'm not an engineer. I just picture stacking square gallon jugs in that space...seems hard to get 300 in there, but I'm sure someone who knows volume conversions will chime in and tell me I'm wrong

Another way to think of it is could you put 5 55-gal drums in that space? Don't think so...

Re: Would this be worth trying?

Turns out thqat these were cardboard! So I opted for the 55gal drums. Also ordered a diesel circ pump diaphram style for 80 bucks. So next week I should be ready to try collecting some of this and running it. Place I got the barrels from said that they have sold a lot of these to people doing this. Also found prefilted WVO for $1.00 per gallon.

Re: Would this be worth trying?

Drum totes (or tote bins) typically run from 275 to 400 gallons. Figuring 42" x 48" x 36" high would be 42 cubic feet, times 7.48 gallons per cubic foot = 314 gallons. That's almost six drums which would take up a space 44" wide by 66" long. Interesting how the cubic shape really packs in a lot more gallons.

This doesn't really impact how veggie burns in our vehicles but it is kind of neat. Growing up, I never thought I'd actually have a use for pi R squared... but nowadays I do!

At least the good ones Unless you're talking meat pies...had a few of those that were square, and were pretty tasty

Re: Would this be worth trying?

Veggie oil weights 5 lbs per gal. a 5 gal jug is 35 lbs.
