Re: WVO from restaraunts..what to look for and stay away from

I have the worst luck of collecting oil. By the time I get to a place to test their oil....its nearly empty or empty. I like to test before I talk to the owner to make sure its worth my trouble.

Re: WVO from restaraunts..what to look for and stay away from

Approximate cost per gallon of biodiesel is around $1, but this does not include your time, fuel expense and wear and tear of car/truck driving around collecting oil and supplies. For many of us, it is a hobby rather than a way to make or save a lot of money. Biodiesel smells better, it's better for the environment and has a great friendly community of home brewers.

Setting up your processor costs the most ($75 on up), mine cost about $250 for materials and slightly used water heater. Another $30 to build my washtank.

Got Biodiesel?

Re: WVO from restaraunts..what to look for and stay away from

My cost per gallon is about .85 a gallon. Yes there is the time factor, but since I view it as a hobby, I'm still coming out ahead in the pocket book.

Alot of the materials that I used to make my biodiesel trailer were donated except for the new tires and wheels on my trailer.
