03 HPOP Discharge fitting??

I am currently working on an 03 with hard to start/no start issues. I have torn into the engine to inspect the internals and found that the o-ring at the top of the hpop discharge line is almost gone. Could this be the reason for it failing to build up oil pressure and not starting?

PS...sorry if this question has already been asked and answered. I tried searching the FAQ and didn't find anything.

Thanks for the responce. I think that's it more than likely. Now to figure out where the metal filings are coming from...

Thought that exact same thing, but when we took a look at the HPOP it looked good...it was just replaced last year. What we did find is that the screen beneath the oil cooler is torn and there were a lot of metal shavings in the parts of it that were still whole. So...now I am kinda thinking that maybe the shop that fixed it last year didn't clean that screen when HPOP was last replaced and the metal was still in the system from when the old pump failed. The screen was holding the metal filings and when it finally failed it released the metal filings and when they hit IPR they caused it fail...

I don't know just a theory...

The local dealer was saying that it might possibly need a new short block. Only problem is the truck is no longer under warranty...

Most often the debris found in the HP oil system or IPR screen is from the oil cooler reservoir. When the oil cooler is removed you need to drain that reservoir and make sure its completely clean and dry, also I usually replace that screen under there which feeds the HP pump.

I was going to post this a while back but just haven't had the time. The truck is ALIVE!

It was down for a month and the dealer said we needed a new block...bounch a block heads if you ask me...but it is alive...

Thanks to those who helped with advice...
