03E03 MPG

As promised I took the truck on a little trip today and got some numbers for you.

I usually drive my 02 doolie 7.3 with the CC set at 65 which gives me 11mpg.
When I set the CC for 55-58, the mpg jumps to 14.

When my 03 6L was a week old and all the engine parts hadn't quite become aquinted yet I did a no load/no trailer mpg test and got 14.5

Last week I had the dreaded 03E03 recall done and today I took the truck for a little 195mi ride.

Like my 02, I set the CC at 58 and let her cruise.

I now have 18K and had no load/no trailer for this test.

19.2mpg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOO HOO !!!!!!!!!

Some old school 7.3 guys have told me the old 7.3 did not make max mpg until thier 7.3's hit about 30K.

So my 6L may still have a few mpg left yet.

But at any rate I am TOTALLY JAZZED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What with a California 7100lb beast and all.

I am TOTALLY PLEASED with the 03E03 recall.
(except for the tow/haul that is)

I would suspect our friend Gale Banks either is/OR/will work up a trans command module in the near future to get our tow/haul back.

That is if we all ask nicely and all...

Re: 03E03 MPG

The mileage is impressive, but I'm more impressed with the fact that you were driving 58 on a Kalifornia freeway and didn't get shot at. This is of course assuming that you didn't get shot at ... you didn't did you?

Re: 03E03 MPG

I found a slight mileage gain when I had 03E03 done sometime ago. Good going Sillsmack.

Re: 03E03 MPG

That is good. However, these 6L's are really "snowflakes". Recently did trip from here to Sun City, AZ. About 720mi. one way.

Only 14K mi. on my 6L. Solo/cc set on "65" mph/flat road/Elv. started at about 4500 ft. but dropped going to Sun City. Tank filled to neck, got 19.30 mpg (2 tests) Mine still all OEM so far incld. C94's. Wt. 7400#
D. 10W/30.

Still, glad to hear yours didn't suffer mpg loss. OT

btw...didn't ck. coming home. Got tired of being slowest on road. Well, part ways/not all the way.

Re: 03E03 MPG

Mileage on my 03 6.0 seems to be creeping up slowly as the milage is adding up (22k) Drove like a old man with a little more freeway than normal and averaged 17mpg. up from 15mpg. Remember the dealer saying I wouldn't see max mpg till I hit 60-70K. The lieometer seems to be getting closer and changes quicker with throttle changes.
Cheers,
Bryce

Re: 03E03 MPG

P.S.
First time I ever got 600 miles out of a tank of fuel without low fuel light coming on.
Cheers again,
Bryce
