04 6.0 Power Failure

recently my truck had complete power failure while driving, and has been starting intermitenly sometimes it wont even turn over and the battery indicator light comes on and off randomly. I was told to start by replacing the Batteries I did that and it doesnt seem to have fixed the problem the battery indicator light is still on, and i havent drivin it enough yet to see if it's still having power failure issues or not. I was curious if i should move on and try and replace the alternator next? and if anyone has had these same issues.

Your problem can be caused by a bad ground. Make sure the ground wire is tight at both ends...battery side and truck side. If you have a multimeter you can also test the alternator by starting the truck and running the lights and A/C. Your battery voltage should read 13-14 volts while the truck is running.
