04 6.0 wont shift

2004 f450 6.0 auto. always ran great 60k miles.alt. went and batteries died .i was able to limp home alt light abs light on and various components began to shut down as power was drained.new alt and charged batteries now when i move my shifter from p to d or r trans does not engage.any ideas where to start?fluid is full and clean.

Disconnect both batteries and turn your headlights on...do this for about five minutes, then reconnect everything and see if it makes a difference. If it does, the trans will have to "relearn", as you drive, so it might feel a little weird at first.

I'd get new batteries too, if they're not already, for peace of mind. I changed mine out this year with OEM Motorcrafts for $115 installed at the dealership.

tried battery disconnect no luck
