Good question.... thats what I did. I bought an 05 F350 4x4 crew cab with 69K miles on her. I upgraded the EGR cooler and added the Bullet Proof Diesel Engine Oil Cooler upgrade because I had heard bad news about the Ford OE version of both these products. Driving around in Phx.... outside temp is ~105°, my oil temp shows 170-180°. Droving home from a buddies house the other night, the outside temp was about 85° and mostly downhill. Oil temp stayed at about 140° until I mashed the engine on the freeway....
Your real question is in regards to the pattern failures of the 6.0L. At the bulletproofdiesel.com site they have a set of "installation instructions" that talk all about these common failures and how they are addressed. You may want to start there for some insight.
