'05 6 liter died

My '05 6 liter died on the way home today. No mods, bone stock. It just died at about 25 miles an hour like you turned it off. No check engine light, just the battery light after it died. Our mechanic from work came over, got it to fire on starting fluid (I know, I know but he knows what he's doing.) after it burned the starting fluid it ran like normal and died after about 1 or 2 minutes. It doesnt flash any codes at me but I don't know if it would. He seems to think its possibly the cps. I changed all the filters when I got it back to the house so its not filters. It has oil pressure and fuel pressure. Anybody got any suggestions?

stc fitting

I haven't tried to start it cold yet but after reading all the info on stc fittings I think you're probably right. Any ballpark idea's on cost to fix at the dealer or is this something someone with a decent amount of mechanical apptitude can do at home? One guy on here said it was a two day fix at the dealer. That sounds like a pile of money to shell out coming into the holidays and all.
