6.0L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain Discussion of the 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 2003-Up Super-Duties and Excursions. 05 6liter dead

i have a 2005 100.000miles all off a sudden one morning shut it off went into deli came out to start it just cranks no start oil pressure gauge goes up after cranking any ideas i put new fuel filters no start question 1 i have 2003 6liter excursion can i take out the pcm ficm and try them in my 05 can i chang e one at a time like the pcm first then try to start it or should i change both pcm/ficm i dont want to fry anything on my excursion any help i appreciate it

Whoa! Before you start tearing out modules, why dont you have it scanned to see what's goin on first? It may not have anything to do with the electronics. Also what has been done to the truck in the past? This could be a simple problem like a branch tube fitting or sensor. I would see what codes it has, then move in that direction. Good luck!

Have it checked for codes. Most likely you have a high pressure oil leak. D-rings on oil rail plugs and stc fitting are most common. Swapping modules with the X won't do any good, as the pcm's have completely different strategies, as the 03 will have the "inferred ebp programming". Your X probably has PATS that will not allow engine to crank, if it is so equipped.

thanks just stressed like a lot of 6.0 owners that want to fix it my self warranty out so is my wallet so i have a good running 2003 excursion 6.0 that was built in 2002 december with 75.000 on clock n no problems only back to dealer for reflash. so i can swap some stuff on my 05 if needed but i will code read it first

ok pulled up code po611 now my question to the 6.0 guys is this, before buying a new ficm can i take it out of my other running 2003 6.0 excursion to check if my broken 2005 6.0 will start will i need to also swap the pcm with the ficm or it doesnt matter oh yes my excursion does have pats or the chip in key my 05 doesnt

You can swap the FICM, they are the same.

what about what djshum posted about the chipped key/ pats wont work i have that in my excursion but not in my 05 f350

FICM's are interchangeable, pats key is input to pcm...nothing to do with ficm.
