Re: '05 Died - Starts and dies - Help - Updated

OK... Here is an update... I had it towed to the dealer last Saturday which I had to pay for because the truck is out of it's 36k mile warranty and the diesel warranty does not cover towing. $171 Tow bill. I picked it up on Tuesday. They said that the oil pressure regulator was sticking and showing 0 PSI oil pressure. They removed it and the oil pump gear and everything looked good. Reinstalled everthing and all worked fine.

I picked up the truck and everything was fine for 4 days. Then today I am on the highway and it starts dumping mass amounts of oil, smoking and losses power and stalls. In the matter of a few minutes of trying to get off the highway it had dumped a ton of oil. Once parked in had probably a good quart on the ground under in and another couple quarts under the entire truck. Added oil but it looks like it is pumping oil out at pressure somewhere around the valve cover on the passanger side. So... now I have a truck that no longer runs again and am going to have another towing bill that Ford is probably not going to pay. And I don't know if it did any damage to the motor from being oil starved. The thing that sucks about that is that if it did any damage, I may not find out until after it's 100k mile diesel warranty is up. This sucks!

This motor has been fairly good for me until now. Some minor issues like oil leak which they tried to fix with a new rear main seal a couple times but it still leaks. Other than that is has been pretty good. But this is getting old fast. Not to mention that the dealership put 15 miles on my truck while it was in there (I have no issue with that alone) but then got greasy foot prints all over my carpet in the process. They have already told me they will be steam cleaning that. Again going to be without a truck and no rental. I can not imagine if I used my truck to earn a living. Sorry... I don't usually complain, but I am pissed. And I just had Toyo 35"s put on it today! Any one that wants proof of the issue... I will be happy to post my service invoice.

Thanks for listening to me rant. Any thoughts?

If its up on the Valvecover on the Pass side.It could be the Icp sensor O-ring may have Blown out.Or the Top of the sensor fractured and Is blowing Oil out

I think it is too much oil to be that. It comes out like you are pumping it straight out of the motor. I think at the rate, I could pump out a quart every minute or two. Something big must of went. I guess we will see tomorrow after another tow bill. I am just really concerned about any oil starvation damage that may have occured. Could it have been the piping from the oil pump?

Re: '05 Died - Starts and dies - Help - Updated

Called dealership this morning and they said that they did nothing that could possibly cause an oil leak and they will not authorize payment of the towing bill to their dealership. I said “You mean to tell me that your dealership worked on my truck less than a week ago for an oil delivery problem, and now I am telling you that my truck broke down due to an oil delivery problem, but that it is just a coincidence?” They said, yes and that they worked on the high pressure oil pump which is internal to the motor. I said, “Yes, but you had to take it apart to get to it. You are taking a customer that was fairly happy even though you did get oily foot prints all over my carpet, and now telling me that you had nothing to do with the breakdown? I think is pretty bad.” They came back and said that if I have it towed into them and they find that it was their problem, they will pay the tow bill. I told them that the problem with that is that it is going to be the opinion on the mechanic working on the truck and I have no control over that. At no point and time did they even say sorry... even on behalf of Ford.

I had it towed to a different dealer. I was trying to save money the first time by towing it to the closest dealer. I guess I should have known better.
