05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

My dads 05 occasionally wont want to stop! The ABS light comes on and when you hit the brakes, they pulsate real bad like if you have ever had to run off the road and slam on brakes the ABS kick in and pulsate. This concerns me for his safety. Anyone having this problem?

Haven't seen it but I have to suggest getting in for repair now rather than asking if anyone else has seen it....

Re: 05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

Havent had that concern, but I have noticed how when at a stand still, even on level ground it appears like the brakes lose grip for a .5 of a second and then repressurize or something cause the truck will surge forward but the rpms stay the same.

Anyone else?

Re: 05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

My 05 PSD F-350 FX4 Dually has had very similar brake problems except no abs light ever comes on. Mine is usually when towing and on the road for awhile when I first push the brake pedal it goes about an in. from the floor, seems like it has about 30 percent braking ability when this happens. If I pump the pedal a few times the pedal gets firmer and seems to stop better. I have complained to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong. Suggested maybe there is air in the system so they said they bled the system which did not cure it. I'm wondering if the master cylinder is bypassing internally or the ABS unit malfuntioning? Don't know a fix yet but it is definately a safety issue for sure. Keep us posted on your journey curious to know...

Re: 05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

My 05 does the same thing, sometimes when stopped the truck inches foward a few inches then I will apply more brake to make it stop. This is amazing how many new trucks have these same problems yet Ford will probably say the truck is operating within factory specifications...
-----Keep us posted on any further developments.

Re: 05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

Mine does similar things, but no lights on. I have to stand on it at a stop. Almost hit a few cars at traffic lights. Pedal keeps getting closer to the floor.

I would take it in. Sounds like air in the lines, IMO......

Re: 05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

I've seen trucks do this when brakes got hot.Not on fire hot but hot like when towing. It was caliper pistons sticking. After a minor cool down would be ok and dealer could not duplicate. But it was pistons sticking in front calipers.

Sounds like a bad sensor or tone wheel. You need to have a dealer check it out.

Re: 05 INTERMITTENT BRAKE TROUBLE!?

That sounds like a bad seal in the master cylinder, so you loose either the front or rear brakes.
