05B27 recall

My dealer called yesterday to ask me to drop off my 05 F350 Lariat and was surprised that I was expecting his call. Thanks to this forum I was able to say, "what took you so long"? I have had this truck since November and am completely happy with it, having had no problems at all with it, my three other 05's and my 04. I just hope that the process of removing and tearing down the transmission does not ruin my luck. I ask those who have had this recall work done to comment on their experience. Thanks.

Re: 05B27 recall

I had mine done in Febuary and it was the second one done at that dealer. Made me very nervous. Tech. did a great job. It took him two days. Make sure they order both kits because they won't know which one to use until they open it up.

Re: 05B27 recall

Had mine done in march, took about a day and a half. No major problems and about 1500 miles. My only advice is to check the auxillary trans cooler (front left of radiator)mine is leaking looks like they replaced the filter, but not the seal. You may want to even request the seal replaced when you drop it off. Good Luck...

Re: 05B27 recall

I had the recall done about a month ago. Brfore the recall I had a 1-2 second delay shifting from drive to reverse and the same from reverse to drive. After the three day recall the 1-2 secong issue became a 5-6 second one. The truck then went back in under warranty for a complete rebuild. After 6 buisness days it was ready. I got it back with the same issue that it went in for in the first place. It is going back in next thursday for another rebuild. Now it not only takes the 6 seconds to shift, when it does kick into gear it really kicks in. I mean that at this rate I will be lucky to get 10k miles out of the universals! Not only that, it shifts randomly while driving. (so far it only does it thru forward gears, not forward to reverse) I called other dealers and they all seem to be backed up with transmission issues. While the service managers may say that they are not having any problems with these transmissions the schedule speaks for itself. Good luck!

Re: 05B27 recall

The 05b27 recall was done on my 05 Lariat yesterday and it seemed fine on the drive home. The dealer told me that they have been doing one recall a day for months due to the 04 recall and the 05 recall. Sad to see such poor quality coming from an American company. It must be costing them a fortune. Fortunately my transmission showed no signs of damage or metal fileings and hopefully there will be no future problems. While I was there I ordered an 06 crew cab 6.0 to replace my last remaining 99 Dodge Cummins.

Re: 05B27 recall

Not sure what the difference is between the kits, but the S/W said on the one trans. they did before mine the kit they ordered was the wrong one and they had to order the other kit after they opened up the trans. When I scheduled mine, he said they would order both kits to avoid any delay.

I'll suggest ordering both kits to the service writer.I bet he don't do it.

Re: 05B27 recall

Well my truck is in for the third transmission rebuild. Took it in last thursday and hopefully I will have it back this week. (working like it should) I have not gotten a parts inventory yet. I am also getting my first reflash to hopefully cure the 13mpg highway issue and not cause others!
