I think my truck has started drinking my coolant. So far I have checked the heater core and all other places that I can see to find a leak, no luck. I have not seen any white smoke out of the tail pipes and no extrera or funny looking oil. I drive about 100 miles to and from work and loose around a gal or coolant per 100 miles it seems I would like to know what you all recomend and if you think it will be covered under my power train warrenty. It is an 2006 6.0L turbo with 80k miles and have had no issues of any kind before this.
Should be covered. I would pull the EGR and look under it for coolant. If coolant is present the EGR cooler is bad. I would pull the oil dipstick and check for presence of coolant. If it is not leaking then it has to be burning it. Might be head gaskets. Are you running a programmer? If so un-install it before taking it to the dealer for repair. My two cents worth.
check your oil if it is milky looking STOP DRIVING YOUR TRUCK, antifreeze in the oil is very hard on engine internals. Then yes its probably your egr cooler.

Thanks in advance,
Church, The dealer should find that you have a bad headgasket. I had my EGR and oil cooler replaced and it didn't stop the loss of anti-freeze. They finally did the head gaskets at 98000 miles.

BTW, remove the chip before taking it back for warranty.
Only the ENGINE is warranted for 5 yrs / 100k miles.
The PowerTrain is only 3 yrs / 36k miles EXCEPT for vehicles built on July 14, 2006 and later. Those vehicles have a factory 5 yr / 60k POWERTRAIN warranty that is in addition to the ENGINE warranty.

True. IIRC however, the engine warranty is called the powertrain warranty in my warranty stuff, which is why I called it that.........
Semantics aside, if he falls in the categories I listed, his headgaskets should be covered....

I see so much confusion about coverage that I am very sensitive to semantics when it can be misleading. So (up front) my apologoies for being a PITA. I have copies of all the warranty books and they do say Diesel Engine Warranty. Your coverage information is spot on, and hopefully no one expects coverage of the tranny, driveshafts, differentials, etc.
