06 F250 6L Turbo MPG gauge - Diesel Forum

Hi, i just have a concern about my mpg gauge on the dash, its always jumping around, like i understand that it will flucuate a little bit, but when i hit the reset button it jumps to 99mpg or 30mpg etc, but if i keep pressing it it will eventually goto around 15 where i figure it should be. Anything i can do to fix that?

the reason you see these high numbers is that at the moment you hit reset you were coasting and using no fuel. because the system only takes data from after the last reset all it ses is you coasting. if you just leave it it will settle down as it gets a larger sample of your driving conditions. you may also have a system which gives you the option of seeing instant mileage V.S. average. hope that helps explain it
