Re: '06 PSD Heated Mirrors ?

I have an 05 and had thesame question. I left the ignition on with to listen to the radio when cleaning it and left it that way when I washed the truck. Before I could dry the truck, the mirrors were dry and hot.

What wire is it that run's the heated mirrors from the fuse panel? There is blk w/ white tracer at the mirror it self but none coming off the fuse panel.

will an up fitter switch take care of the on all the time heated mirrors? Seems funny to have to do that ,or is it just a Ford thing.

Re: '06 PSD Heated Mirrors ?

Also if someone could find a ford part # for a factory appearing switch for mirror heat that would be a big help as all of my upfitter switches are in use

thanks

Re: '06 PSD Heated Mirrors ?

I know the F150's had a factory switch for that so you might check there.

It can be wired to switch the miorrors on and off. That is why I want the wire color to rewire it.

Re: '06 PSD Heated Mirrors ?

Here is the answer that I sent to a another subscriber. The only thing to remember is to use the number one or two upfitter switch since the mirror heat is about ten to fifteen amps. I actually cut the wire from the fuse panel and attached the end that goes into the wiring harness to the number one upfitter. I then took the other end coming out of the fuse box and attached a female bullet connector. This gives me another fused ignition on power source. It is easiest to remove the four bolts that hold in the fuse panel and pull it forward. The wire you want is on the middle connector, on the back of the fuse panel. It is on the left side of the connector, second from the bottom. It is green with a purple strip. You can double check by hooking up a test light or meter and turning the ignition on. It will then show hot(12v). Next remove the fuse for the mirror heat and retest. If it is cold you know you have the right one. Cut the wire about an 1 1/2 from the fuse panel and strip both ends. Put a connector(bullet or butt) on the end coming from the fuse panel and attach the other end to the upfitter wire of your choice.

Re: '06 PSD Heated Mirrors ?

Thanks, that is what I needed to know.

Where did you get the glove light box? I found them on the internet for $12.95 but they want $12 to ship. Any better option?

Re: '06 PSD Heated Mirrors ?

They are about $8 from First Ford Parts. I am not sure about shipping. It is also the same glove box light that is use in the Taurus if you decide to go junk yard hunting.
