I know that there have been several similar questions asked, but I can't seem to find any answers for my truck.
I have a 2003 F250 6.0L with 148,000 miles, no mods and I run diesel kleen (gray bottle) with every fill up.
The truck had been running great up until a couple of weeks ago. I was a little over due for my oil change and I noticed it struggle a bit when going up a steep bridge I go over all the time. It just didn't have any power and when I punched it I could just here the turbo whine up and I would get less power out of it, so I would back off the gas and it would do a little better.
I changed the oil hopping that that would help, but no dice, it has just gotten a little worse. I only really have half the gas pedal to use when accelerating, and if I push it any more it just slows down, the turbo whines and some black smoke come out (but only when I push it).
After reading through here, I decided to check the hoses going to the turbo, so I took them off, cleaned them up and checked for any cracks in them. All was good so I put them back on with some sealant.
I drove it the next day and still no change, so on to the next item. I pulled the EGR valve and it looked pretty bad (similar to the one in the TECH folder) so I cleaned it up and put it back in, and still not much of a change. It felt like it might have been a little better at first, but when I tried to get going, there just wasn't anything. The turbo didn't seem like it spooled up as quick though, and there wasn't as much black smoke, but there was still some.
So then I tried to just unplug the EGR valve to see if that would make any difference. The truck didn't want to start at first, but on the second try it fired up. I drove it and still no change. So I just re-plugged it in and now I don't know what to it could be. The truck starts right up and idles perfect and revs up great, but when driving and I hit the gas, nada...
I don't know what it could be at this point, I am going to take it to check the codes and will get those posted.
You might want to change out the fuel filters to eliminate that as a cause. Depending on the quality of the diesel fuel that you get, the filters (lower one in particular) can get restricted in less than the 15k mile change-out recommendation.
You have crapped up injectors, mine did the exact same thing, EXACT! They replaced 4 injectors.

I had the same issue with all the matching codes for ICP/IPR/EGR bad...I changed everything and the truck would hardly get over 10 miles an hour and die, turned out to be the HPOP and it's not cheap, I could have bought another 100K bumper to bumper for what it cost me:-(
Good Luck!

I went ahead and changed the air and fuel filter, and hoped like hell it would be something simple like that, but no dice! damn..
So after that I decided to break down and take it to the dealer and now a week and a half later and $2300 (Thank God the GM hooked me up) I finally got it back...
Here is what they had done:
DTC's - P0603, P2290
• I had a bad ICP sensor and connector at an injector (that was the first bit)
• Then they had trouble starting it and wanted to check the high pressure oil pump (just fantastic!!)$$, well go figure, that was bad too. After waiting a couple of days for that to get done I give them a call and find out that they just finished putting everything back together and the new pump they put in is bad! Now they have to take it all back apart and order a new one, ehhhhh!
• Finally, a couple more days later they finally get the pump in and get it installed and running only to find out that now my serpinteen belt tensioner will not tighten the belt any more, so I have to get that fixed too. But at least that only took a couple of hours more...
At least I have the truck back now, and it is running great, just don't want to go through this again, I could have bought a nice project jeep or mustang for that price.
I couldn't really get an answer on why the high pressure oil pump failed and how to make sure it would last, all they could tell me was to keep the oil changed regularly...

Yeah, my warranty extension notice just expired on the 9th! go figure
I watched a guy struggle with his 6 liter. It wouldnt start hot. Started perfect cold. After replacing the HP oil pump, IPR and ICP he removed the RH valve cover to find the oil manifold falling off. The bolts were all stripped or broken. He went about diagnosing the problem in a backward way.
