Question 2004 6.0L horse power & torque specs

I have a 2004 CC dually with the 6.0L engine and the 5 speed auto with a 373 rear end. What are the horsepower and torque readings for 1500 -- 3500 RPM? I have a stock transmission and am considering adding a performance module to help me in the mountains---I tow a 16K fifth wheel---what are the transmission reliability risks?

You would have to use the tow safe mode feature. Probably want an aux. tranny cooler with that size of trailer. I personally would not recommend it. A lot of people that mod the 6.0 have problems and good luck getting ford to cover anything under warranty. To me it is an expensive risk to take. Here is a manual the has the horse power specs: A lot of people that do mods will upgrade there head bolt studs/gasket. I'm sure others will chime in on other mods.

2004 6.0L horse power & torque specs

Thanks for the link---there is a lot of good info, including the specs I need. The next mountains I'm in, I will manually downshift the automatic to keep me close to the best torque/ horsepower range.

I have until April 2009 on my extended warranty and I am still considering the EDGE Products Platinum Juice w/ Attitude monitor---however---at what point will the transmission be overstressed due to the higher engine torque? Are there modified transmissions available that would handle more engine torque?

Heat is the killer to the tranny. That's why a lot of people do the aux tranny mod. You do have a tranny temp gauge on your truck that you can monitor. Some people go with an aftermarket gauge so they can monitor the tranny temp better. If it gets too hot you have to back off. I would still be paranoid about the head gaskets.
