2004 6 Speed Old Blue Smoke/Bucking Jerking Issue

Archived Earlier Thread

There were several of us experiencing a problem with our six speeds several months ago and I wanted to post an update on my truck. The thread above was the heart of the discussion. This is the third time it has been in to the dealer for this issue. The dealer had another six speed on the lot exhibiting the same symptoms. I dropped the truck of this morning and spoke with the dealer this afternoon. The dealer advised they were finally able to duplicate the problem with the other truck. They advised my truck had a "hidden" EGR code. This was the first time it has actually shown a code. The dealer advised they were going to try changing the EGR and see what happens. They feel like the EGR valve and its interaction with the throttle plate present on the 2004's is what is causing the problem. I don't know if this is the culprit, but like I said, I just wanted to pass along the information.

On a side note, the truck is also in the shop for an oil leak which I thought was coming from each side of the block around the glow plug bus bar. The dealer advised they found it to be leaking in three different locations, and that the leaks were "above" the glow plug bus bar, and not the bus bar itself. I didn't have time to get into the details concerning these fixes, but they feel like the truck will be ready tomorrow. I will post a follow up with more of the specifics in case anyone is interested. Thanks to all.
