2004 Automatic Tranny Tow Haul Light Blinks

My Tow haul light started to blink the other day while towing my 20' enclosed trailer. Everything still works fine other than the tranny temp guage. The next day I used the truck again and everything was working fine for the first 5 miles then the tranny temp guage stpped working and the tow haul light started blinking again. Anyone have this happen?

On my 97 i know that means the trany is throwing a code. If everythign still works fine just the guage that may be the problem. Id say have someone read the codes.

I'd take it to a dealer if you still have warranty. My T/H light started flashing 15 or 20 miles before the transmission croaked.

My truck was just in the shop for the same exact problem. Tech replaced the temp sensor in the trans and the trans wiring harness. I was at 36,700 miles - cost me $550.

Re: 2004 Automatic Tranny Tow Haul Light Blinks

If your T/H light starts flashing when your temp gauge is erratic, most likely will need temp sensor. This is a fairly common concern on these things, especially with higher mileage. Sensor costs about $78 bucks, plus fluid, filter, (while your in there), and labor.
