2005 6.0L issues - Diesel Forum

Question for the Gurus.
I have a 2005 F350 with the 6.0L. Sometimes when I start the truck it will idle rough and I will smell deisel though the heater. When the engine gets to temp the roughness and smell will go away (like it had a dead hole that is firing now). Sometimes it starts fine with no issues. It doesn't smoke. I can't see a film or smell deisel in the coolant. I don't see fuel on the engine anywhere. Oil is normal. No warning lights come on. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hmm...Do you have an exhaust leak anywhere? Hole in the intercooler boots? I recently started getting the smell of diesel on start up, and it was a small exhaust leak.
