Sounds like this post may be right. You are going down Same road. Order yourself some studs so it will be fixed right.

We just started having this problem with our '04 F250 also. It really is a shame that people don't return here and update their threads when they figure out what the problem was. As is, this thread is somewhat useless for pertinent information.
