2005 Owners Manual: no synthetic motor oil ?

On another forum someone said their 2005 6.0 PSD owners manual said not to run synthetic oil nor any additives. Anyone here see the same thing ?

Re: 2005 Owners Manual: no synthetic motor oil ?

It says not to do that for the first few thousand miles, IIRC. After that it is OK.

Re: 2005 Owners Manual: no synthetic motor oil ?

No, it does not say not to use synthetic. It just says not to use additives. Synthetic is most assuredly not an additive. However, if I were breaking in a new engine I would change at 1000 miles and 3000 miles just to remove the break in debris. Then I would go to synthetic. Since my first 2 changes would come close together I would just use a good 15-40 oil for cost purposes. Then I would go to synthetic and find a good secondary filtration system to install, do a couple of Blackstone oil analyses, and adjust my change interval from that data.

This is the only way to do it. I have spoken the only truth on this matter. If anybody disagrees with me they do not who their father is and they are probably full of something brown and foul smelling.
