2006 F350 Chipped Ign Key - or not?

Howdy,
I bought my truck used and it came with only one key and a remote start. As prone to loosing things as I am - I decided to get another key made. Off to the dealer I went - who then told me "Go to a key cutter on the mall - much cheaper than going through Ford, 2006 F350 keys aren't chipped". So I went to the Key Cutter who told me "I'll cut you a key - but it won't be as chipped one and your truck will only run a short time then the anti theft will kick in and it will die a horrible screaming death requiring a tow to a dealer and mucho dinero to breathe life back into it".. I little over dramatic I thouight - but what the heck - it is a mall and maybe he does a little busking in his free time. So I got him to cut me a key - figuring I could at least use it to open the doors - which it does - at least the driver's door - but not the passenger's - but then the other key doesn't open that door either - so no change there.

Anyway - what sayest you folks - Is the darn thing a chippy or not - how to tell?

Thanks !

Excursions have chipped keys but not the trucks.

The trucks DO have a chipped key - but only if you have the Harley edition. All the rest of the trucks (at least in 2006 and before) do not have chipped keys.
