2006 starting problems

I sure could use some help here.
This truck is hard to start in the morning. It takes 4 to 5 seconds on the starter before it fires. After I'm out and have locked the gate it takes up to an 1/8th mile to get to 45mph. If it's cold temp's (a rare occasion in Florida) it's worse. After it warms up, it runs great all day. This has slowly become worse over the last 10K miles.
Regular maint on oil changes and both fuel filters have been replaced with no improvements.

2 different ford dealers are finding zero codes, and both are telling me nothing is wrong. The last one says "it's the nature of the truck" and I'm not kidding, I about fell over.
The truck is still at the dealer, I'm going by tomorrow or Monday to pick it up.

Any ideas (other than strangling the service manager?)

any smoke when cranking? it could be the glow plugs or a bad fuel pump. the ficm could also be on its way out, normally that will set a code though.

Mine had the exact same symptoms yours has. I even plugged the truck in, to see if it would help, and it did for a few days, then I went out to start it one morning and it would turn over, but it wouldn't fire.

Turn's out the FICM is toast. I should say that my truck threw no codes either.

That's where I would check, if I were you, and get to a dealer that isn't as stupid as the one who told you it's the nature of these trucks. The nature is that they break often. That shouldn't prevent the dealer from fixing it.

They need to remove valve covers and inspect the D-rings on the plugs in the high pressure oil rail. The D-rings will wear enough to allow oil to seep out when shut off, but not enough to cause engine to stop running altogether....it will give you longer crank time however....this is a pretty common issue. If it is not fixed, it will eventually leave you sitting on the road when d-ring finally gives up completely. This may or may not be the problem, but it is definitely worth looking into.
