Question 2006 truck down ,p2290 code

Here's the deal , 71,500 trouble free miles until today .Been having some rough cold starts, so I took the truck out for some hard excelleration over the weekend to clean her out good . really made a difference too . the last thee days much smoother idle on cold mornings , smoother running all around.
I was cuising home today when the engine light came on and I lost 50% of power and engine sounded much quiter than normal . Got within 100 yds of home and she stalled . Couldn't get started again so I called tow truck. While waiting I scanned the computer and p2290 came up . Isx this code for ICP,injection control pressure ? Any clues what happenned ? Thanks for any help you can give me as I have been lucky and have had no problems with this truck until now .

P2290=Injector pressure too low.

With a P2290, the fault sets when actual pressure is less than the commanded by a specified value. Greater than 1 MPa (4-5 ICP commanded), greater than 3 MPa error (6-27 MPa ICP commanded).

Just in case you were wondering, MPa is a metric (SI) unit for pressure, or force per unit area. Pa is the Pascal, which is one Newton of force applied to one square meter of area (1 N/m2). MPa is a mega-Pascal, or one million Pascals. Since atmospheric pressure is 101 000 pA, or 101 kPa(approximately 14.7 psi), this is approximately 9 atmospheres (around 150 psi).

So, I'm guessing your ICP is bad?

Hope that helps you some.

Thanks for the reply Stokin 6.0 .Just wondering if ICP is a part that needs to be replaced or is it a condition caused by something else ?

Just got the call from the dealr and they say the hpop needs replaced . Is that the pump you were talking about fordboy ? I asked them if while they had it torn down if they would clean anything that was carboned up like the egr and ait2 sensors and they said they would . they also recommend cooling system fluid service .They don't drain & flush , they use a machine to pull out old and put in new . $79.00 and they don't change out therostat .What do you think ? Is there anything else I should have them check while its torn apart ? thanks guys , I trust your opinions !

yeah thats the pump, wouldnt worry about the thermostat theres rarley problems with them but a coolant flush wont do anything but help, coolant in these things gets pretty nasty. if they clean the turbo im sure they will inspect it good and replace it if anything is bad but besides that not much else to do.

Thanks for your help Fordboy . I was at the dealer today and I talked to the tech .He told me the egr looked like it had some serious issues as well as the ait2 sensor . I asked him how the turbo looked and he said it looked a little cruddy , but I got the feeling he wasn't very worried about it.Hope I can get them to clean and inspect it before they put it back together .I'll take your advice on the antifreeze also . Thanks for your help , I really apreciate you taking the time !

Hey guys first time posting on this site but I figured I would throw out my 2cents. I have a 2006 F250 6.0L and I have had the same problem at or around 70k miles. It has been in and out of the shop 8+ times and is going back in Monday. They cant find the answer, even took them on a little trip up a hill with my load. Their computers plugged in and the code popping up P2290. got back to the shop and they still have yet to fix it. I am thinking of going after the Lemon Law unless I find an answer quick. Will this error lead to bigger problems down the line if I just ignore it? Error only pops up when i am towing and when I am on the peddle hard from mid throttle to wide open. And only when the truck shift down and ramps the RPMs up to pass 3000.
