2007 F350 stopped running

My 2007 stopped running, had it towed to the shop. They called and said it was the glow plug control module. This doesn't make sense; the truck was running fine, at normal operating temp and just stopped. Had a friend say it could be the cam pos sensor?

Possible. Could be a High Pressure Oil System leak or a HPOP failure as well. You need a tool to check for codes and to check things like ICP and stuff. Some sort of tool is a must have accessory for these trucks.

Cam sensors do not fail very often on the 6.0 (but they certainly have had a few failures).

Shop gave me a fault code of P0679, I can't find this code anywhere for the 2007 F350 6.0

That is a false code. Is it an Independent shop and what code reader are they using?

P0671 = Cylinder #1 Glow Plug Circuit Failure

P0672 = Cylinder #2 Glow Plug Circuit Failure

.... and so on.

Last time I checked, a 6.0L diesel only has EIGHT cylinders.

Now, would be the time to do some datalogging of the usual 6.0L data readings that are immediately relevant to whether or not it will run, in order to pinpoint your issue, since no DTCs (or at least relevant ones) have set.
