Exclamation 2007 Harley Coolant and Conserns.

Hello all,
As a "going out of marriage" gift to myself, I bought a F-350 Harley 6.0 Powerstroke. I had other powerstrokes and I used the Fleetguard Strips to keep an eye on the coolant. I now hear that it does not work on the "newer" ford coolant. The strip looked good hesterday but now I am real conserned. Truth be told, I have only put 6K miles on it in 2 yrs or so.....and she is puff so I want to make sure i do this right. Should I use addiditve anyhow?? is there a "better" way to verify the caviatation risk with the current coolant? Should I fush/fill with a diff coolant and if so what brand....I always used Motorcraft but if this is no-good then I will switch. Now other than that, should I use fuel additive to prevent EGR issues and stuff. It is cheap for me whereas I dont drive much, when I do I pull some heavy stuff and I make sure it gets out every few weeks for a few miles and cycle the turbo pretty hard. Any help would be great!!!!! Thanks!!!!
Joe

The new gold ford coolant doesn't require the additive anymore. It's a different compound altogether. Some guys on hear swear by a bypass coolant filter. I like to just flush it every year or so to be safe. They claim the gold G-05 is the best for this engine. Anyway that's what I know.

After reading all of the injector related issues with the 6.0 here and elsewhere, I decided when I brought this truck home to start using the Ford fuel additive immediately. May be in my head, but the truck seems to run better since using it. Probably that and the fact I've also caught it up on most or all maint. Replaced air filter, fuel filters (ford), Oil change (ford), oil leak topside (ford warranty fixed), not to mention new front pads, rotors and 4 new shocks. Seems like a great truck. Hope I don't run into the bazillion other issues everyone is complaining about. Far as the coolant goes, I also learned from reading here to make 100% certian not to mix coolant. Use only the Ford coolant. Mixing/topping off with the wrong type can turn your coolant into jello. Have you changed the coolant since you got the truck? Maybe just go ahead and change for you own peace of mind.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info! I have not changed the antifreeze yet due to the low miles. I will however head off to Ford and get some gold stuff. I always use OEM stuff anyhow, I figure they know best. I think I may use the fule additive also, with such low miles it wont cost hardly anything.
Thanks again!
