4X4 Question?

Recently Puchased an 04 F-250 Harley davidson Crew cab. 57k Lightly Used. The guy that owned it before me is a realestat agent and only used the truck to tow his 20 ski boat. I doubt he ever used the 4x4 only in the snow a few times a year. Any how I live in Denver Colorado and work in Longmont Colorado. Thats about a 30 mile commute. As Im sure you herd or seen on TV, we are getting dumped on with snow. I know that the auto 4x4 is working becouse i can feel it locking in. but this morning the as I went around a corner it was in 2wd. The 4x4 light was on but no 4x4. I switched it back to 4x2 herd a thump in the front end drove it a 100 ft or so then switched ti back to 4x4 and it was working again. Also when I put in reverse the 4x4 wont work for the first 2 or 3 feet. Whats wrong?

Check your vaccum lines. I had the same problem and it was due to a broken vaccum line on each side.
