#5 injector and FICM are toast

Got word from the dealer that my #5 injector and FICM are the culprit for my awful idle and power surges. I was quoted $2000...sounds high. Whats a good price for this? I know FICM's arent cheap.

I got mine replaced under the factory warranty about 2 months ago, and the invoice said it was a little over 1400 for the ficm. Not sure how much injectors cost.

Injectors are about $250 each and the FICM needs to be programmed for your truck.

So if I have another shop do the work will I still have to take it to Ford to have it programmed?

Yes, from what I can tell (I'm not a diesel tech, just an owner ). You can purchase a used one for the same year as your own on eBay for about $200 then get it reprogrammed from a friendly dealership, but in all honesty, it may be best to bring in your own injectors then let an experienced person do the install and programming of a new FICM.
