6.0 6spd with short throw shifter?

How are the 6spd's with the short throw shifter installed? I love the 6spd but it shifts kinda notchy. Does the shifter help smooth it out? What about different fluids?

My new truck is going to be here in a few weeks and I was looking at ordering the shifter.

Yes, it works. I recommend you buy the short shifter but wait until you get your truck so you know if it has the six or four bolt flange on the transmission tower. Synthetic fluids will also help but you need to let everything settle (wear) in before expecting a truly slick shifting tranny

It's a light truck tranny, and a good one. Why would you want to jam it and just wear your synchro's at an accelerated rate?

Re: 6.0 6spd with short throw shifter?

i for one would like a shorter shift. the stock one is too long a throw. its longer that my big trucks had.? anyone trying to "power-shift" a 6spd diesels is not from this demension. haha.the 75-90 amsoil synthetic gear lube sure made my 6 spd shift like a dream. an ounce of dow chemical Z-MOLY powder made it even slicker. now, about the slow steering in my 2wd dualy, thats a problem that probably cant be fixed. with power steering, why ford has such slow steering is beyond me.

Re: 6.0 6spd with short throw shifter?

I don't want to shift fast just a little smoother
