Re: 6.0 FUEL MILEAGE

My '04 6.0 is so far since I've been keeping written track of fuel mileage getting 16.6 mpg hand calculated for 11 tanks since Jan 1, 2005, with a low of 14.6 and a high of 18.6. The truck currently has about 20,700 miles on it. My '02 7.3 set up similar to the '04 was getting 20 mpg on just about every tank except when towing our horse trailer (10K-12K). The 6.0 is getting 16-17 on the same trip back and forth to work, 50 miles round trip, mostly travelling 55-65 mph with only about 5-10 miles I would consider town/city.

The new 6.0 can hold it's own, but overall doesn't get as good of mileage, but it has been improving with age and I think that is the key. The 7.3 had 43K on it when I traded (didn't like to keep oil inside ). These things take time to break in, but I think a truck getting 10-12 does have issues. Mine has been a 16 mpg truck since day one unless I'm on the highway then it'll get 18-20, running 65-75 mph.

Re: 6.0 FUEL MILEAGE

Hello Folks, its been awhile since I visited, and I wished I had..............

I have the 04 6.0, and did not know about the "reflash" which has produced VERY unacceptable results in my 6.0, both in mileage and power. I was getting before reflash, 11 - 12.8 towing horses & carrying a camper for a total of approx. 11,000 lbs.......... Now I get 7.2 - 9.5 with a LIGHTER LOAD!! Unloaded, driving at 65 - 70 I now get around 14-15 mpg.

My questions are........ (And I apologize, I have not followed this issue and threads) .... What are my options to get back my power and mileage, not necessarily a chip, I mean as stock. My ford Master mechanic (who is outstanding to me) has mentioned not much Ford can doo to reflash it back to the power and mileage I had when i purchased it.......... I am not interested in a "Buy back" since in all other aspects, I ADORE this truck, much better than my 2000 7.3......... ANYONE??

It looks so far my only option is a chip. I probably will doo it later but I'd rather get what I paid for as advertised from Ford when i bought it (ie: 325 HP & 575 Tq)
Thanks in advance.
