6.0 INTERNAL OIL LEAK...HELP!!!!!

okay, hooked auto enginuity to a 2005 6.0 and reading 282psi at the icp,the magic num is 500 plus psi. unscrewed the icp and commanded the ipr to close 100% put shop air in the icp port, air is comming out somwere near the rear of the motor. so i replaced the ipr and hpop. i got one out of a wrecked 6.0 ( pump and ipr i mean). while i was replacxing that stuff i put shop air to the branch tube were the stc fitting sits. now i can hear air comming out from under the high psi oil gallies.not dummy plugs leaking but the o/rings on top of the injector leaking.so i buttoned all the hpop up and turbo back on.now i can hear air escapeing from were i first heard it...at the rear of the motor. ohh,i have base oil psi also.

can anyone HELP please!!!!! a finger in the right direction????

if you have a high pressure leak at the injectors where the hp rails fit in then you need to replace the injector(s). the only spot near the back of the engine where i really see hp oil leaks is at the stc fitting on the pump. did you use new gaskets and o rings on the branch tube side where the stc fitting bolts on? also that ipr valve may not be working especially if it has been sitting a while. if its not closing then that would sound like an air leak at the rear of the engine. maybe this was the original problem? this is one part you would be better off getting new. try to put air pressure in the hp rail where the icp sensor screws in and turn the valve on and off. if the ipr valve is working you should be able to hear a noticeable change in air flow between on and off of the valve. also you probably need to rig up some jumper wires straight to the valve. all you need is power and ground to make the valve come on. that way you dont have to worry about whether or not it actually is commanded on. o and make sure you remove the oil fill cap before you start pressurizing stuff up so you dont over pressure the crankcase and blow out your main seals.

o and another thing. do your pressure tests with the turbo removed. that way you can check for air coming out of the turbo oil drain line if it is then thats a leak in the hpop area. if not then the pressure is either going out the injectors (rare that it would cause a no start) or back in to the crankcase which means the ipr is not working.

Yup,i tested both, turbo on and off, truck jus abrubtly stopped when it did die...when i took hpop out,i pressurized directly in branch tube and found air leaking around top of injectors.i put hpop back on,turbo too and put air in icp port. Now it sounds like air commin from crank case. Ipr commanded closed and open. Btw,when i had ipr out(the original) i put 12v to it with jumpers. I did hear it actuate. Checkn base oil psi,it would not fill bowl up till i put fresh batteries in. And even then,it bubbled. And ive seen em fill up a helluva lot faster. Im freakin stumped.it wont whoop me though.

The way i understand it, there is no air suppose to leak period. Am i correct in sayin that?

Almost sounds like a branch tube thats picked up a hole or lose?? Ive never done the air test but Id have to say no to any kind of air leak. Its a pressurized system. In your sig it says you did a rebuild, do you recall anywhere the tube could be lose or damaged etc??

usually it does leak a little bit but not a whole lot. it could be the branch tube but i would have a hard time believing that it would be cause i dont think i have ever even heard of one needing to be replaced. your base oil pressure is over 20 when cranking right? it seems like there is something we're missing

Ya I wouldnt think so either considering its just oil flowing thru but in past posts there have been a few that had to replace branch tubes. From what Ive heard its the 05s that have had the issue but Im not 100%.
