6.0 vs. 7.3 both stock both new which would you take if FREE!

I'm intersted in your thoughts if you have experience with both motors?

I did not vote!! I have both, I like the both. 203,000 miles before any problems with the 01 7.3!! 16,550 miles on my 05 6.0 and no problems yet!! Both seem to be great motors if they are not abused!!

I picked 6.0 and I would mod it to the gills...well it is a free truck
Of course I'm paying for mine, so yet to do that

Even they were worth the same, I'd pick the 7.3. But since it's a free truck annd the 6.0 trucks are newer which brings higher value, the smart money would be to go that way. Your poll does not take this into consideration.

It is headed 6.0 but put this in the 7.3 forum and things might be different. Many di hard 7.3 owners never hand around in here.

There's a few die hard 7.3 owners that hang around up here, we just traded up for the 6.0!

Re: 6.0 vs. 7.3 both stock both new which would you take if FREE!

Even though I have 21K miles on my 6.0 with only very minor problems, I'd probably take the 7.3 for reasons of long-term relability. (read: when my warranty expires)

We all know how many problems the 6.0's have. The 7.3's just seem to go forever with little or no issues.

7.3L.

It would be an added bonus if the 7.3L could be shoe-horned into an '05 Super Duty, with the stronger frame, Torqueshift transmission, and bigger brakes. Not to mention the upfitter switches and Tow-Command system.

Re: 6.0 vs. 7.3 both stock both new which would you take if FREE!

I have a 1996 PS that I just overhauled the automatic in. The torque converter hub took out the oil pump in the transmission, busted it into little pieces. I've upgrade the converter, and added a Banks trans commander for extra insurance. Still, the 2005 PS with the 6.0 is a fine motor. It has more initial turbo lag, probably due to it's smaller size, and the 4 valve head. But once on the boost, it cranks. The discounts, what they offered in trade, $2000 above high book trade-in, has me hesitating and drooling. The new trucks are gorgeous. But mine might last another 10 years. I'm know of the problems that the first year 6.0 have had, but I think Ford has a handle on them now.

Re: 6.0 vs. 7.3 both stock both new which would you take if FREE!

Exactly why i had to let my 7.3 go. Not enough gcvwr. she was a strong girl. but frame and brakes were short for my needs. My 92 7.3 was a reliable very few issues motor
my 02 only had a few quirks we fixed with hutch and diablo
6.0 is to quiet. the ride is the same, the tranny shifts weird compared to the 7.3, but hey to tow 17k it has to be stout

Re: 6.0 vs. 7.3 both stock both new which would you take if FREE!

I'd like to see how much MPG I could wring out of a 6.0.

I have a pretty good handle on the 7.3 and don't see why the same stuff won't work on a 6.0.

Know anybody who wants to contribute a 6.0, six-speed, 4x2 RC or SC?
