7,000 miles ...yeepee

just back from trip to Az., (cold in minnesota today) having read the forum on 6.0 diesel, was concerned about a few issues.....pulled a small rv trailer which took 3 mpg off the 17 empty mileage...worked well for us, no problems, truck now has about 8,000 miles on it, i thought my concerns would be zero after the new purchase but i read of the stories here and feel like i am on egg shells. this forum is great, have learned the way the tranny (tow/haul) works with delayed shifting and a few other operating factors that was never explained when i bought the truck new (aug. 06)...am mind full of a time we looked at a new mercedes (2002 model) the sales person shared with us every option and how it worked, the fact being that he was sold on the veh. and wanted us to know and feel the same positive way he did on the auto. the ford dealer was fine, but the point being the sales person did not know or maybe share all the factors that i would have enjoyed knowing when leaving the lot. thanks to all you folk, sorry i got carried away.

I would not worry, just enjoy your truck. Most people who post on this site have problems, or questions, so you will see a lot of negatives on here (not that there are not issues with the 6.0)I have 18,000 on my 05 only one sensor bad on the truck (WIF).

ncmallard78 You turn on the cargo light on using you dash panel dimmer switch. When you flip it all the way to bright keep going till it clicks, the cargo light should be on.

Re: 7,000 miles ...yeepee

Through forums like this, and owning a lot of trucks, I consistantly know more than the salespeople every single time. I use that to my advantage. I will ask them questions I know the answer to to see if they will answer honestly, or see if they know their trucks.

I love trucks, and could sell them for a living. As for cars, don't really care.

The cheapest piece of junk you can buy will do a great job for 7-8 thousand miles. I am much more influenced by truthful long term information.

How about truthful short term information if that's all he has at this point?

Re: 7,000 miles ...yeepee

I am guessing most SD buyers knew more than their salesperson. My experience was definitely that, he knew absolutely nothing, which worked to my advantage because I knew every in and out of the truck.
