#.73 rear end

Looking at 05 F350 6.0 auto. SRW 4x2 Only comes with 3.73. Is this really adequate for pulling a loaded 5th wheel all over the country.
? Fiver is a 35 ft max wt 14,400 I load to around 13,800. I have a '97 7.3 auto with a 4.10 rear end and am not sure about the 3.73.

Thanks for any help/info.

Re: #.73 rear end

I would go with 4:10 gears for that weight, it will use a very little more fuel, but will be an easy pull.

Re: #.73 rear end

I pulled the 4.10 out of my 250 and installed a 3.73 LS. I pull max 11,000lbs about 8,000 miles per year (out of 16,000 total). It lasted 10 years with no problems. I figured it was better for the engine (2000 rpm@70 mph vs 2500rpm@70 mph) and cheaper to replace a rear end than a motor rebuild. I changed the rearend fluid each year too. For your info...
