Accelerating differences

When at 65 MPH or so my truck doesn't seem to move up to 90 or so with a WOT nearly as fast as it does if you are starting from a stand still or a slower speed and then go WOT. What is the difference with the tranny and TC? Anyone elses seem to do better from a slower speed then it does from a faster speed??

Re: Accelerating differences

All depends on the speed and what gear you are in. Is it droping a gear when you hit it? I don't recall speeds and gears but sometimes I hit it and it only drops 1 gear, sometimes it drops 2.

What your gear ratio? 3.73s? 4.10s?

Re: Accelerating differences

gear ratio.
Wind resistance.

The engine puts out the same power at 0 as it does at 90.

Re: Accelerating differences

You have more momentum when climing up to and past 65 mph on your way to 90 mph than you do when your cruising at 65 mph and then floor it to get to 90 mph. I think that makes sense. When you coming from a stand still and you hit 65 mph you have alot of momentum built up so you can easily keep on going up to 90 mph.

This doesn't make physical sense. Momentum will not help you accelerate. The difference should be entirely due to engine revs and turbo already being spooled up accelerating "through" 65 rather than from a 65 mph roll.
