Advice on Frequency of Driving

Hi Guys, I have a couple of questions for you.

I own a 2004 F450 used mainly for towing my 5th wheel. It currently has 39K on it. I normally drive it once a week to keep the turbo oiled. Is that enough to keep the engine in good shape. The turbo and transmission were replaced under warranty about two years ago.

The only maintenance I've done so far are oil and fuel filters. The tranny fluid was replaced when the new transmission was installed. Is there other important items I should do with a low mileage 4 year old truck?

Thanks for your help.

As long as you are driving it long enough to fully warm the engine (20+miles) it should be OK. Basically, that is all that I do - oil and filter changes (engine -7500 miles, Trans - 30K miles), fuel filters (15K miles and lube (every oil change).

And don't run it hard (pull up a big hill) and shut it off . Let it run a few minutes to cool the turbo before you turn it off.

Good advice! I'd get it out on a highway for about half an hour after the temp gauge moves.

You might want to look into a battery tender as well. If you don't get your rpms up into the 1.5 to 2 k range for better than 20 mins or so, the alternator doesn't have a chance to refresh the charge in the batteries.
