I have been looking for a used truck, leaning hard to the 7.3. I have one now and has given me good service. Keeping this truck. Would have common service parts, less of a pain to keep track of. The 2002 and 2003 7.3's that I have found have been beat on pretty hard or they want the same prices that the 2005 6.0's seem to be going for.
Common sense says buy the newer vehicle. So should I be afraid of that 2005 6.0 that has close to the same amount of miles(around 150,000) as some of the 7.3's I have been looking at? I'm hoping that by 2005 most of the launch problems should have been addressed. I know about head gaskets, EGR, remote oil cooler, etc. Is the transmission an issue like it was with the 7.3? I know the ride should be better with the coil springs up front.
This will be a commuter truck, has to be reliable. Truck will pull a trailer, 10,000#'s, once a month, 6 months out of the year. Can not justify $50,000+ for a brand new truck with the mileage they're pulling out of them.
Thanks

RUN A OAISSIS REPORT ON THE VIN # AND IF YOU SEE ANY HEAD GASKET BEING REPLACED OR ANY SIGNS OF A CHIP OR PROGRAMMER RUN FROM IT AS FAST AS YOU CAN I HAVE A 03 7.3 AND A 05 6.0 THE 7.3 TOWS BETTER THAN THE 6.0 BUT I WOULD NOT CONSIDER TRADING MY 7.3 FOR A 6.0
