Air filters

What is the difference, if any, in a Ford powercore, Donaldson powercore, Amsoil powercore and Fram powercore airfilter for the 6.0 or are they all the same just in different boxes? Have personally seen the Ford/Donaldson and the Fram. They look the same and have the powercore label embossed on the side. The Fram was white instead of blue.

Re: Air filters

I have not sceen the fram but it sounds just like the wix one i got online. I have read here that the blue layer filters the vary fine particals which the other brands don't.. I'm not sure i buy this..I bought the wix online with all the other 6.0 filters at fleetfilter.com (sponser w/great prices). I have not put it in yet, maybe others will tell us more..

Re: Air filters

They are clogged (by the guage) on my trucks at 3-4,000 miles (all dirt roads) Napas price of $68 about killed me until I started buying them online

Re: Air filters

Do you wait until gauge indicates that you need to change you air filter or you just change it at 5,000 mile intervals? My 2003 7.3 never moved my gauge I even let it go 25,000 miles between changes once.

Re: Air filters

I changed mine this spring after about a yeaer and 10,000 Miles. I will probably do it again this fall. I like the piece of mind. I may look at a washable filter at somepoint, but not yet. Overall it is cheap maintenance. Chris
