6 Air filters????????????? That'd be a lifetime supply wouldn't it??? They don't all have to be the same filter, get the air filter a couple of oil filters, the trans filter, fuel filters, and you've met the 6 minimum requirement. I know, that only add up to 5...

What is the difference, if any, in a Ford powercore, Donaldson powercore, Amsoil powercore and Fram powercore airfilter for the 6.0 or are they all the same just in different boxes?

I know Amsoil's filter is made by Donaldson.

Re: Air filters

Well, talked to a tech at Donaldson today. He says they make the aftermarket filters for several brands, but there is a difference. While they are all powercore filters, the filters with the white media are cellulose based and the filters with the blue media are synthetic and have a better ability to filter. He also said there was no need to replace until the filter minder moves because they have to have 2/3 of the tube or cores filled up in the filter before its ability is reduced.

Re: Air filters

Greetings, I believe the Air Filters are 15k miles. Not 5k. That would me heavy use Oil Filter.

I change the Air filter between 15k and 20k. I dont do real dusty areas and last time I changed mine, at 18k, it was very clean still.

I saved it as a back up...

Peace

Re: Air filters

I bought an Wix air filter at filter 1 and wondered if it was a good filter or not. The engineer who designed the air filter has posted on this forum before so I asked him about the Wix filter. He replied that as long as it has the Power Core label on the side it was made by Donaldson and would be just fine.

Re: Air filters

That's my question. I don't get in dust and dirt much, so I was trying to get an idea of when to change this thing. The Donaldson guy makes me think just to go with the filter minder like the book says and the cellulose (paper) filter should be fine.

Re: Air filters

My filter minder has never moved! Therefore I don't trust it, so I change my filters at 25-30k miles.

Re: Air filters

Long story short, only 15K on mine. Have new m/c af, but it's still on shelf. I haven't seen todate, air filter (minder) guage move.

What's even more interesting, I blocked intake, minder dosen't move. Being in hi desert we do get dust/sand, but so far mine isn't hurting in the power/mpg from lack of air/plugged filter.

Re: Air filters

It won't move at idle. I blocked mine to check it and had to rev it to get it to move. There is a seperate small intake that helps at idle.
