Air sucking sound

My truck has a weird sound of sucking air it is not on the turbo side but near the air filter could it be sucking air thru some part of the air filter housing or is it just trying to get more air and causing it to make this sound. It does it at random times at steady speeds or pulling a grade. It is a a high picth whistle like the turbo but more like a wind blowing thru a half open door.

sounds like a leak in the inlet tube or clamp, possibly a crack in the plastic tube this will also cause a loss of power

you will have to look around all the plumbing joints and it helps to have it running and up in the engine bay feel around.(dirty) but it helps to find it. I would drive far till you get it fixed as there isnt any filtering of air and you might risk your turbo

Did the filter minder blowout by chance. That sounds alot like mine did when I found the filter minder hanging loose after a dealer service visit.

Mine sounded like a jet coming up the driveway or anywhere I started to take off and it ended up being a busted intercooler.
