another 6.0 hart to start!

ok here's the deal, a couple weeks ago i shut my truck off at normal operating temp. let it sit for about 30 minutes then tried to start it. it turned over for quite a while then finally started, ran bad and smoked like a train for about 5 seconds. I haven't had any other problems until today, when i tried to start it. It cranked over and didn't want to fire, then i had white smoke coming from under the hood that smelled like unburnt fuel. Finally fired and runs fine. I know there are like 165749863 posts about 6.0's not starting but i'm frustrated! Any advice?

As I replied in another thread tonight....it sounds definately like a high pressure oil leak. I apologize if I am post-whoring or repeating the same answers in several threads....I just registered and am catching up on all this stuff round here. Great Site!

Anyways, it is most likely a HP oil leak. And no, you won't always see oil.

I've only ran into this problem twice since i've owned the truck. Is this problem going to leave me stranded somewhere? I hate waste $100 for ford to say that there's nothing wrong with it. Thanks for the reply!

My 04 stroke never did it, 06...not one problem yet, 07 has had an oil leak on both sides of the motor. The first one never did strand me, just made it a really long hot starter.......but the second leak left me stranded just after a work meeting, really embarrassing. The worst part is it was at a restaurant, and I was sitting it it trying to let it cool down some more after it wouldn't start...and a couple of guys walked by and said "Man that is a beautiful truck", and then they proceeded to sit outside at the eatery, so they got to see it towed away. Argggggg!!!!
