Any scanner news? - Diesel Forum

Are there any new scanner/scan tool programs for PC lately?
I know about Autoenginuity as seeming to be the choice of most but if there is something that has come along lately?
I want PID viewing, not necessarily needing graphing or any other extended diagnostics.

Along about the time we decide that we can do without one feature or another as long as we can save a buck or two.. we set ourselves up for disappointment.

I use the Ford IDS - I will not trade this for anything else. I can deal with proprietary modules (ABS, RCM, APIM, EATC, MATC, DSM, DCSM, and on and on and on....) It has PID data (FWIW, PID data is best viewed as a graph... ) It has output state control - I can use the scan tool to make the module actuate an actuator.... (half the diag is done right there)...

I'm not going to try and sway your decision into a scan tool that costs thousands of dollars.... but it is important to realize that features you might not consider as important now have a way of becoming paramount once we have a little experience....
