Yup my 06 does the same thing, the cruise on my 02 was MUCH Better. It Frustrates the crap out of me.

FWIW, it's worthless on a 6-speed. My 7.3 would pull fine in o/d, but the 6.0 hates it. I just leave the cruise off and yank gears. It may be inconvenient for some, but I get consistent performance this way, and no unexpected downshifts and bucking. Sometimes we just need to put down our cell phones and drive our trucks.

My 04 cruise control makes me crazy as well. Many times it will just stick in 4th gear and never shift to overdrive. If I use my foot it runs in overdrive just fine. Part of the reason, my 07 is a standard, I like having more control.
