Bad Injectors

I am having a rash of bad Injectors. I just replaced #2 & 4 last February and now #2 and #8 just went bad. What is the root cause? FWIW I have been using OpiLube Diesel treatment and also just recently used a oil additive the last oil change that suppose to clean injectors/turbo.

fuel pressure, more specifically the lack of it. from what i've learned 40 psi is the absolute min pressure before damage occurs. (low pressure has several standard causes,#1fuel filter restriction due to dirt or water, #2 fuel pump getting weak or failing, caused by working too hard to pull fuel through a plugged filter). part of your problem is ford itself, the initial damage to the injectors probably happened at the same time but ford only changed the 2 very worst ones, hoping the rest would stumble along just above the margin for replacement. you probably want to change your filters more often and do like many other and install a pressure gauge that reads the pressure where the fuel enters the head, then you can see whats happening and avoid any more problems. the only other thing that comes to mind is if the copper seal at the tip of the injector is leaking and letting combustion gas into the fuel rail in the head, any void in the fuel will cause low pressure type damage.

Since they are all on the same bank, replace the fuel check valve for that head. The check valve is the banjo bolt that connects the fuel line to the head. After that make sure you have atleast 48 psi under WOT at the secondary fuel filter test port. You can try installing the updated fuel pressure regulator, it has a longer spring and usually jacks up the pressure a few psi. Your sig says you have a F-450, does it have the aft axle tank? If it does I would make sure all of the breather tubes are installed and pull your primary fuel filter and check for fuel tank delamination. Aft axle tanks are prone to get water in tank.

Thanks.. do you happen to have the part number for the check valve and fuel pressure regulator. Also you would think that other injectors would have failed if it was a bad fuel pressure regulator.
