Bad news for FORD

On my way up Highway 18 eastbound, I saw two F-350 pulling fifth wheel dead on the road. brand new ones at that. If it is the FICM connector coming loose, that is bad on FORD as this problem has been extensively discussed here. I for the life of me cannot figure out why the Eistein's at FORD mounted the FICM where they did with the connector favoring gravity disconnect exacerbated by engine vibration. FORD, fasten the connector to the FICM the same way the connectors are attached to this computer

Re: Bad news for FORD

Well they just might have puke coolant or leaked all the oil out or just maybe blown intercooler hoses off.

Re: Bad news for FORD

It's also possible that only one was stopped for a problem. the other may have been there to help or even a travelling companion.

Re: Bad news for FORD

Maybe they stopped for another reason, say rest or get something, emergency bathroom break. People stop on the side of the road for many reasons while traveling, not just truck problems.

Re: Bad news for FORD

So your point is speculation.
Now, if you had said I stopped to see if I could help etc. that I could understand.

Re: Bad news for FORD

16 miles apart,no steam like plumes, powerstroke logo on door, and with the hood up. I do kick myself for not stopping but highway 18 was dangerous ( traffick at 70 or better ), at that time. I will stop next time and see if I can help ( just a matter of climbing over the motor ans wiggling the connector ). From past postings the problems usually summarise to bad EGR or intermittent FICM connections.

Re: Bad news for FORD

maybe some magnetic anomaly that caused an electrical problem.

...or UFO's disabling the hi frequency injectors.

You never know.

Re: Bad news for FORD

Hey now, its funny ,but dont jump the gun like that, it was my two buddies takin a trip , they are ford fanatics and were trying to beat each other to the drinkin hole, i was speakin to one of them on the cell phone as he told me this story, and how they both just got new trucks, i told him that ford didnt install hood blankets any more so he pulled over to check it for himself, thats when you must have slid by, after a few minutes he called his buddie up the road and told him what he found, so he pulled over to check, you guessed it ,thats when you slid by him. see there was really nothing wrong with either, but then someone posts about the issues these guys were having without really knowing anything at all, just dumb luck i guess, or i could be wrong. Re: Bad news for FORD

What are the odds?

Technician A says: Both trucks just filled up at the same filling station and BOTH accidentally got GAS instead of diesel fuel.

Technician B says: They both had their aftermarket tuners cranked and they were 5th-wheel-drag racing when all sixteen pistons simultaneously melted.

Technician C says: Whenever Power Stroke diesel owners get within a diesel fumes length of each other they can't help but pull over and swap stories.

Technician D says: They were waiting for the other two 5th-wheelers in the pack driving a Chevy and a Dodge to catch-up!

Re: Bad news for FORD

No, you are thinking of an electric blanket that keeps YOU warm on cold nights.
