I put a pair of diehard platinum's in my 05 a couple weeks ago. My truck now has a ridiculous amount of cranking power. It was -25 last night, truck wasn't plugged in, and I could not detect any difference in cranking speed.

Bring your first born though, they aren't cheap.

Thanks for the link! I might have to check those out, but you're right... pricey!

I you decide to go with the Optimas check out the prices at Costco. They were about $50 less than anywhere else I could find them. Having said that I had gone there fully intending to buy the Optimas but ended up buying there own labeled battery. You cant beat the warranty and I think if my memory serves me right they were $165 for the set. They crank execellent and I have had a great experience with them so far. The coldest cranking I had them here in the mountains of NM has been -2 but they cranked with full power and work like a charm. One last thing about them, consumer reports ranked their batteries the #1 battery out there. For what ever thats worth?

I sure appreciate all the battery info for all of you watching this thread. I ended up in a jam the other day and the dealer put new MC batteries in for me. It wasn't my prime choice for an outcome, but my own fault for not changing them sooner.

I wouldn't feel too bad. The Motorcraft batteries have been good to me. My '00 truck has it's second pair of them in it now, still cranking strong. I replaced the originals a few years back, and plan to replace my current pair with more of the same when the time comes, but I don't think it'll be any time soon.
A very good battery at a reasonable price if you ask me.

Cool. These news ones are a slight upgrade on the CCA. I'll see how they do. If they serve me like the first ones did, I may just stick with 'em. Hopefully next time I'll change them before they 'change' me though.. lol

i just bought batteries a couple months ago and after looking at all of the specs on batteries. the Napa 7565's are the best 880cca and are $100 each, most all of the other batteries are only 850cca. If you look on the napa website they only have them listed as 750cca but it is a misprint

I know that at Walmart they are about 30 to 40 per cent higher than standard batteries but they are designed to be discharged and recharged many times with out sulfating as much as the standards. If you have the room, two 6 volts in series work better than one 12 volt when it comes to amphours.

Again, Costco... They have Optimas that were WAY less expensive then I could find anywhere else and they also have very good private labeled batts that have great warranties.
