Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

I had been purchasing oil filters for my 6.0 at Wal Mart. For some reason they do not carry them anymore (seems like no one else does either).

I’d like to stick with Motorcraft in case I have any major warrantee issues in the future. Not sure if this would matter or not, but I think it would be best to be safe than sorry…

Can anyone please suggest where to get the filters other than the dealer (where they charge an arm and a leg)? A retail establishment would be good for the one I need now and an online source would be good so I can buy a bunch of them for future use.

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

Last time I was at Autozone they sold the Motorcraft filters. I now buy all the filters for the PowerStroke online from Filter1.com . Engine oil filter says Wix on the box, filter inside box is the same filter as the one in the Motorcraft for 1/3 the cost. Every filter brand for the 6.0 has been the exact same filter whether the box says Wix, Napa, Motorcraft, Purolator, etc..

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

Someone else first posted this but I checked it out for myself, not that I didn't believe the guy. The Fram filter at Wal Mart or presumebly anywher else is identical to the Motorcraft and a couple bucks cheaper. Even the all the labeling on the filter is identical. Evidently Ford and Fram are buying from the same manufacturer.

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

So far, all the oil filkters for the 6.0 are turning up the exact same filter, except maybe the one Amsoil carrys but I haven't seen one yet, and I won't at a dealer cost of 3x that of Wix from FIlter1.

Same thing down the patent number and manufacture origin (Germany)

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

I talked to Wallyworld - apparently they and Motorcraft had a little tiff and Wallyworld reportedly is not carrying any Motorcraft filters any longer. I know they aren't in my town.

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

Greetings,

Filter1 is where I have been buying mine from. They are a little more expensive than fleetfilter. But they dont charge shipping over $50 so they can be cheaper, but the more you buy the more likely Fleetfilter is the way to go.

Filter1 = never had any problems with their web site. Very fast. They have good service and are very nice.

Fleetfilter = site is very slow the few different times I have been there. Called them and they too were very nice.

Further, Fleetfilter.com is a sponsor of this site. Filter1 is not...

Peace.

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

My local Wal-Mart has 8-9 of um in stock everyday. I have gotten all of my filters for my 6.0 there.....$17.96ea.

I get them there because it is so easy to get while I am there getting milk, bread, socks...heck....anything.

Personally I would not put a Fram filter on a dog-sled...My 7.3's would pull them inside out.....they are crap.

Re: Best source for Motorcraft oil filters

I agree with you except for the Purolators. I bought some Purolators early on when the Motorcrafts were still real expensive. I'm using them but I wont buy them again. It's not the made in Germany filter. The gasket is different, the media is not the same and its made in Thailand. It looks like a decent filter but I will start using the Wix when I run out. I have one Purolator left. Just my .02

Thank you - our site is slow because the big trucks all need different numbers for air, fuel, and oil and we have to list them all, of course, so our customers can click-n-buy. Our target has always been small businesses who own 3-10 big trucks, and I can't seem to find an economical way to list all we do AND keep the site fast.

Clearly our goal for the site is to expand to a better host in the future.
