I filled my 06' 6.0 CC 4x4 up today with 143 miles left till empty. I was traveling and had never filled up at this place before but they advertise 20% (i think) bio diesel made on the spot at this truck stop. I put 14 gallons in and hit the road pulling about 8000 lbs. 15 miles up the road my CEL comes on. Truck is running normal. I hit the first exit and pull directly into an Advance Auto. Code reader says
"Cylinder injector control circuit low" says the code genie. What does that mean? The guy at Advance said no way all injectors just went bad. He asked me if I just got fuel and I told him what i just posted above. He said it had to be the fuel. He sold me a thing of Diesel kleen and I went across the road, added it and filled the truck all the way up at a BP. I came all the way home 50 more miles pulling my load at 65-70 mph and the truck ran like it did the day I got it.....like a spotted ape. Nothing different at all. 80k miles and CEL still on. What do I do????? Take it to Ford since its under 100,000 or what? Please help.

It very well could have been a fuel issue. It also could be a FICM issue. The best thing IMO is to take it to the dealership even though it will cost the $100 deductible. I would not speculate with the dealershuip on the possible fuel issue. The manual specifically states to use no more than 5% bio. A dealership may void fuel system warranties if you use B20.

The Bio probably loosened up some crap in your tank, causing the injector issues. I've run my truck on B- 5, B-20, and currently on WVO.
I get EGR codes all the time, but I just clean the EGR occasionally and reset the codes with no drivability issues.
Good Luck,
Marc

So you all think I'm ok driving it tomorrow? (didnt today) I really need it for work tomorrow and it's running fine. I'll probably take it to the dealer on monday. I may pull and clean the EGR this weekend and change the fuel filters. The guy at Advance Auto said he could clear the code and get the CEL off but I didnt let him so Ford could see it. Any more ideas??

Chuck..if that's 1st time you've used bio. maybe its like
VFT says. Ever read the bio fuel forum here.
At very least..drain HFCM & see what fuel looks like. Inspect both FF..if cruded up change um. If u disconnect the batts. the CEL/SES will go off & codes get erased as u probably know. You can try a DIY OR If u take in..CEL needs to be on. PT warr.(ded) may cover? Good luck.
Hey thanks OT. Thats good info and I will try that when I get home. Sounds like I should read up on the Bio and pay attention to where I get fuel. thanks.

With all those injector codes all at once, it is VERY likely it is the FICM (fuel injection control module). It is $800+ part. It is covered under the engine warranty (5 yr / 100k). If you bought the 2006 truck after July 14, 2006, then you have a 5 yr / 60k EXTENDED PowerTrain warranty (just an FYI).
A dealership will most likely not do anything if you bring it in with no codes (especially since it seems to be running OK at the moment).
Also an FYI - your fuel filters need to be changed every 15k minimum (most prefer 10k). In fact if you use B5, I think Ford specifically labels this as severe service and the interval becomes 10k. Before doing warranty work, sometimes Ford will ask for your filter change records if you change them yourself. Use ONLY OEM filters (RACOR, International, or Motorcraft).

How can I tell if its the FICM or just the 20% Bio? I ran it today pretty hard and its still running fine. Should I change the fuel filters BEFORE i take it in to Ford?? Thats some good info.....thanks!
