Black Smoke, should I be concerned?

Ok, first off. I have had my diesel 2005 F-350 for about 6 months now. The truck has about 106,000 miles on it. Love the truck and have nothing to be concerned about up until today. I just had my oil changed by the dealership that I bought the truck from. It was not a Ford Dealership, I don't have the bill as of yet to know what filters where put back in the truck. I have to take the truck back next week to get some new tires put on later next week, will square up then.

I picked up the truck Friday, drove Saturday no problems. Jumped in the truck today, started as usual. Went to pull out of the drive way, saw a little puff of White smoke come out of the exhaust and the truck hesitated just a bit. Was kind of weird. Nothing else happened, drove a bit more everything seemed good and normal. Then tonight I go out again tonight, and a little, little puff of white comes out, and now when I step on the accerlerator in the 1500 RPM range I'm getting a stream of black smoke then quits Never had this happen before, until the other day after I got the oil changed.

Why would this be happening? Should I be concerned? Have started the truck many times tonight and the white seems to have disappeared for now. All gauges seem ok, no lack of power. Turbo gauge looks normal also. No water coming out the exhaust. Just black smoke.

When I bought the truck and I read everything possible on this forum for information. My neighbour works at a Ford dealership and got all the information on the truck and everything that had been done. All 8 injectors had been replaced probably about 8 months agao. Did the homework!!! Also everything is stock on the truck, can't change anything as I'm under a extended warranty.

Any help would be great or someone just to put my nerves at ease... lol.

Thanks in advance.

well usually black smoke is just unburt fuel, your lucky im trying to get my truck to pour smoke but you can do it with just stock. i dont really know if it is a problem but that is all i know that causes black smoke. and you see that with the trucks that have a lot of upgrades done to it

If the whining you hear is the turbo spooling, then yes the turbo is spooling like it always has. The turbo PSI on the gauge is normal.

The smoke seems to be going away, not as bad as it was the other day. I just filled my truck up on sunday after the smoke started as a suggestion from my neighbour who works at Ford. He said I probably just had some bad fuel in the system, which I'm thinking is really the cause and a little unburnt fuel. Doesn't happen everytime!!! Happened a little bit this morning on the way to work, but not like it was. Also put some injector cleaner in the fuel the other day, so that's working it's way through the system. Not as concerned as I was, but will get the dealership to just check things over when I go and get my new tires this week.

What would be causing a truck to run rich, and how do you fix such a thing?
